Position Summary
The Make a Difference Leadership Academy changes the trajectory of a community through individuals being trained and assisted in the development of a Community Action Plan to move a community to action.
Expand existing services to the 14-18 age group, new geographic areas, reach a more diverse group of service users/clients, and develop outreach methods to hear directly from community members about ways to reduce health disparities, to improve education/skill-building services, and advocacy.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Develop outreach methods to hear directly from community members about ways to reduce health disparities, to improve education/skill-building services, and to improve care coordination, screening, and/or health screening services.
Self-starter, Organized, Comfort speaking with others, individually or in groups, Community engagement/outreach skills, Able to communicate effectively with individuals or diverse backgrounds and identities
Knowledge Required for the Position
Skill with Microsoft Office or other software for a variety of data processing operations involving a range of problem solving, record keeping, correspondence, and service tracking options.
Supervision
Member uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments following set procedures, independently, The supervisor assigns service activities, advises on changes in procedures, and is available for assistance when required, The supervisor assigns service activities in terms of project objectives and basic priorities and is available for consultation in resolving controversial issues.
Review
The service activities are reviewed for accuracy through spot checks, through complaints from customers, and through observation of the member at service., Completed projects are reviewed very generally to determine that objectives have been met and are in compliance with policies and regulations.
Guidelines
Written and oral guides provide specific instructions for doing service, Detailed guidelines exist, including regulations and directives, handbooks, precedents, industry standards, and files of previous projects
Complexity
Member has to develop, analyze, or evaluate information before the service position can progress, In making decisions, the member is often required to depart from past approaches and to extend traditional techniques, The member must develop new techniques, methods, or approaches to complete service position assignments

Unusual service hours, involving evenings, weekends, or long shifts

- Strengthening volunteer recruitment and/or retention efforts
- Building relationships with community partners
- Developing/implementing surveys, focus groups, interview guides, observations, or other data collection tools to identify opportunities for improvement in service delivery
- Planning, scheduling, and/or convening working groups
- Participating in working groups or other committees to identify gaps in practice or improve systems/processes/workflows
