DEPARTMENT: Nursing
SUPERVISOR: Director of Nursing
WORK AREA: Assisted Living Unit
PURPOSE:
To provide delivery of quality care and services to residents, including medications as ordered by the physician.
WORKING HOURS: Eighty (80) hours per pay period as assigned.
THIS PERSON REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
HIPAA MINIMUM NECESSARY: Responsible to adhere to HIPAA MINIMUM NECESSARY guidelines and safeguard protected health information.
DUTIES:
- Clock in and out promptly on time.
- Report to nurses station to receive report from previous shift personnel.
- Assumes charge duty of Assisted Living.
- Completes narcotic and other control drug count with nursing personnel from previous shift and signs medication tech 8-hour audit and receiving responsibility record.
- Administers and documents medication as ordered. Observes for and reports any medication reactions to physician as applicable.
- Renders care to residents.
- Maintains records reflecting residents condition, medication and treatment as ordered.
- Establishes a good rapport with residents, families and co-workers.
- Supervises all other personnel in giving quality care.
- Encourages staff in improving quality of care to the residents.
- Assist in providing direct resident care (i.e., personal care, bath, elimination needs, O.O.B. regime, etc.).
- May be required to perform treatment of residents (i.e., changing dressings, R.O.M. exercises and other treatments as ordered by the physician.
- Reports any changes to Nursing Supervisor or DON as necessary.
- Assists with passing meal trays and feeding.
- Attends specific in-services and staff meetings when scheduled.
- Assists in resident admissions and discharges.
- Records daily notes on residents as necessary.
- Contact Charge Nurse or DON for tasks unable to perform.
- Be willing to adjust to specific assignments (i.e., charge, meds, treatments, etc.) and work as a team with co-workers.
