JOB TITLE: ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES HOUSEKEEPING AIDE
DEPARTMENT: HOUSEKEEPING
SUPERVISOR: HOUSEKEEPING/LAUNDRY SUPERVISOR
WORK AREA: ENTIRE FACILITY
PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to implement facility housekeeping procedures in an efficient, cost-effective manner to safely meet residents needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: Able to read and write. Must possess the following abilities: follow oral and written instructions, courteous and tactful in manner, good personal cleanliness habits, good physical and mental health verified by physical updates. Ability to cooperate with fellow employees.
WORKING HOURS: Hours of work are 0 to 80 hours per pay period plus or minus as business needs and assigned by Supervisor.
THIS PERSON REPORTS TO: Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor or Environmental Services Director
WORKING CONDITIONS: Stands and walks in limited area. Pushes, pulls, lifts cleaning equipment and supplies. Turns, stoops, kneels, crouches in cleaning, dusting and scrubbing. Exposed irregularly to infection when entering resident areas. Subject to reactions from heavy dust, housekeeping and disinfection solutions.
DRESS CODE: Refer to Company Dress Code policy.
SPECIAL DEMANDS: Willingness to perform routine, repetitive task on a continuous basis and performs tasks despite frequent interruptions. Ability to perform tasks with due respect and consideration for any resident in the vicinity. Noise must be kept at a minimum and residents must never be rushed. Aides must always knock before entering and explain his/her presence. Should never clean room until nursing personnel gives permission.

DUTIES:
- Follows cleaning schedule (i.e., daily, weekly, monthly) as outlines.
- Cleans assigned areas, furnishings, fixtures according to established housekeeping procedures.
- Clean floors, dry mops, wet mops, sweeps. Disinfects where and when necessary. Performs emergency housekeeping where accidents occur.
- Water in mop buckets/ mop heads should be changed out every third room.
- Cleans moveable and stationary furnishings and fixtures; dust, spot cleans and washes, disinfects when necessary, polishes when required. Cleans ledges, shelves, vents. Empties and cleans ashtrays. Empties, cleans, and relines wastebaskets, straightens or rearranges furniture as directed. Inspects furnishings for wear and defects and reports to supervisor.
- Vacuums carpets and sweeps throughout building daily.
- Cleans bathrooms (i.e., resident and public). Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors and walls as directed. Washes mirrors, soap and paper towel dispensers. Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Clean walls, window, doors and ceilings. Spot cleans between washings. Walls, ceilings and ceiling fixtures are cleaned as scheduled.
- Performs terminal cleaning duties according to established procedures in resident rooms when resident has been discharged or transferred and prepares room for new occupant.
- Removes waste and dispose of waste and trash.
- Reports observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects and malfunctioning to supervisor.
- Reports supply and equipment needs to Supervisor for replenishing.
- Maintains equipment used in performing duties.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.
