This is a Monday - Friday position offering care to residents, as well as managing medical supplies.

DEPARTMENT: Nursing
WORK AREA: Medical Supply Room, Nursing Units, Clean Work Areas and Resident Rooms, depending on computer availability
PURPOSE: To maintain and provide supplies needed to administer services and charges rendered to residents.
WORKING HOURS: Hours of work are 75 to 80 hours per pay period, but may be subject to work over during special occasional events or duties that may require overtime.
THIS POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
HIPAA MINIMUM NECESSARY: Responsible to adhere to HIPAA MINIMUM NECESSARY guidelines and safeguard protected health information.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: A High School Diploma with knowledge of computer fundamentals, experience in inventory control, and ordering. Requires organizational skills, follow policy and procedures and be versatile enough to cross-train with other duties.
DUTIES:
- Requires computer to place orders electronically. Enters ancillary charges and runs reports to verify charges entered are correct.
- Stock central and units, possibly residents rooms.
- Verifying shipments with purchase orders before stocking.
- Scanning and entering ancillary charges, verifying what was entered is correct.
- Setting up care package for new admissions.
- Communicating with Nursing Staff involving charges and supplies.
- Communicating and working with Business Office on billing issues and vendors with invoicing issues.
- Contacting other medical suppliers to acquire an item to rendered service as needed, if not in central. May have to physically drive to pick up items.
- Required to complete month-end billing before leaving facility.
- Keep up with nursing and medical supply budgets.
- Keep up with in-house equipment and rentals, repairs, etc., document services rendered.
- Once a year, conduct a physical inventory, fill out physical inventory forms, and send to Corporate office.
- Delivers supplies to Nurses on the floor, if not on the Unit Supply Room.
- Verifying invoices from suppliers with purchase orders and packing slips.
- Keeping Purchase Orders to a minimum of no more than eight a month.
- Utilizing Physicians orders to calculate usage of supplies.
- Pen Part B Supplies must be kept separate from Part A Supplies.
- Set up a standing purchase order in system. Set-up binders with Pen Therapy forms.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Administrator.
EXPECTATIONS:
Acquire knowledge of medical supplies, usage, etc. Learn facility supply usage and set par levels.
