What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend RN Supervisor position at NATIONAL HEALTH - WHITE OAK LLC?
PURPOSE: To assist the Director of Nursing service in assessing resident care needs and implementing appropriate action. Implement nursing policies and procedures. Supervise staffing for the Nursing Department and supervise the quality of nursing care provided to residents. This is a working supervisors position that provides / assists with direct resident care.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of a state approved school of nursing. Current and active license in the State of residence. Good mental and physical condition. Demonstrates leadership qualities, assumes responsibility for total resident care within the nursing units and management of the units. Performs any or all professional nursing duties.
WORK HOURS: Hours of work are 0 to 80 hours per pay period plus or minus as business needs and assigned by the Director of Nurses.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Well-lighted, well-ventilated nursing units and resident rooms. May stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the workday. May have to deal with emotional disturbances of residents, residents family and staff. May be subject to falls, burns from equipment, scratches and kicks from confused residents. May be exposed to infectious diseases, odors and personality peculiarities of the aged. Required to follow the No Lift Policy and must be on constant alert for prevention of resident injuries.
THIS PERSON REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
HIPAA MINIMUM NECESSARY: Responsible to adhere to HIPAA minimum necessary guidelines and safeguard protected health and employee information.
DUTIES:
- Report promptly to the Nursing Unit for report.
- Make frequent routine nursing rounds.
- Make rounds with physicians.
- Supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel assigned to resident care.
- Assist in orientation of new nursing personnel.
- Reviews (C)NA work assignments and makes recommendations to ensure timely care is rendered.
- Monitors and observes (C)NA resident care routines to make recommendations and/or coaching to promote conformance to recognized standards.
- Monitors employee break times for nursing personnel to ensure sufficient staff are on the floor at all times.
- Supervises and helps evaluate licensed and non-licensed personnel. Makes recommendations to the Director of Nursing regarding formal disciplinary measures.
- Oversees and assists with meal delivery.
- Monitors resident snack delivery.
- Monitors residents medical records to determine that records are completed timely and contain required data, i.e., Behavior Summaries, MDS Supportive Documentation, Acute Episode Documentation, following Medicare Documentation Guidelines.
- Assists in processing of physicians orders.
- Assists with admissions and discharges.
- May complete monthly Pharmacy Report.
- Oversees collection of laboratory specimens.
- Assure (C)NA Assignment Sheets and Resident Care Guides are kept current and updated in a timely manner.
- Assess residents for any change in condition and determine proper nursing intervention.
- Assists in teaching residents good health habits.
- Participates and sees that resident care plans and nursing care plans are carried out as indicated.
- Cooperates with other members of the medical care team and personnel of other departments in providing for residents total needs.
- Responsible for adherence by employees to all Company rules and policies and is authorized to administer discipline as appropriate, based upon evaluation of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service education.
- Demonstrate competency using current clinical software system.
- Adheres to No Lift Policy.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
