Position Purpose:

This position functions as the coordinator of the recovery of stolen vehicles from foreign countries for NICB, working in cooperation with member companies, law enforcement, and other associated agencies to combat and remediate insurance related crime.  The Repatriations Special Agent is responsible for supervising vendors, as well as working with foreign law enforcement and U.S. Consulates to recover stolen vehicles.

Work Arrangement and Description: 

This is a field position which means that the individual is assigned to an Area of Responsibility (AOR) and must travel within that AOR in order to fulfill their job responsibilities.

Competencies/Duties:

  • Hire and terminate vendors as necessary  
  • Supervises vendors to ensure productivity and regulatory compliance.  
  • Act as the main point of contact for Vendors assigned to the Agent’s geographical region of responsibility.  
  • Receive phone and email inquiries from NICB Vendors and Authorities in Mexico and create NVR for each inquiry received.  
  • Assign Vendors to repatriate vehicles  
  • Coordinate repatriations; which includes handling and distribution of required documents with the Investigative Specialists assigned to the Foreign Operations Office.  
  • Collects, analyzes, and calculates relevant data for use in investigations.   
  • Properly documents all phases of repatriations activity.  
  • Review all vendor bills for authenticity and accuracy in compliance with vendor contract.  
  • Conduct meaningful liaison with member insurance companies, law enforcement and government agencies to promote and provide the full range of NICB services  
  • Maintain membership in appropriate professional organizations.  
  • Identify potential new member customers.  
  • Serves as liaison with member companies, law enforcement and government agencies to promote and provide the full range of NICB services.  
  • Provides comprehensive training to foreign law enforcement on stolen vehicle matters.  
  • Functions as a “technical” expert in stolen vehicle identification and identifying insurance fraud schemes.  
  • Represents NICB in criminal court, testifying as an expert witness.  
  • Maintains membership in appropriate professional organizations.  
  • Identifies potential new member customers.  
  • Reviews all vendor bills for authenticity and accuracy in compliance with vendor contract.  
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Position Requirements/Abilities:

  • Ability to interface successfully with variety of people.  
  • Ability to work independently under pressure.  
  • Capacity to travel.  
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.  
  • High level of organization skills.  
  • Sound decision making skills.  
  • Operate and maintain NICB issued equipment, including the ability to drive a company vehicle.

Education, Work Experience, Licensure: 

  • Bachelor's degree or 7-10 years of equivalent experience required
  • Valid Driver’s license required
  • Valid Current US Passport required
  • 3-5 years of related investigative experience required
  • Spanish language proficiency required
  • Insurance industry or law enforcement experience preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct reports.

  • All levels of NICB employees
  • Law Enforcement and Prosecutors at all levels
  • Member insurance company SIU and claims personnel
  • Consulates in foreign countries

Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to travel in the U.S. as well as outside of the U.S.
  • Squatting, climbing, stooping
  • Some lifting (25 pounds)
  • Travel required
  • Routine office/administrative tasks

Salary Range and Statement:

The salary for this position is $65,441.
