Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring prompt responses to inquiries.
- Provide regular case updates and explain legal processes in a clear, compassionate manner.
- Serve as a support to clients as they navigate the complexities of property damage claims, medical treatments, and negotiations on their case.
- Address client concerns and escalate issues to attorneys when necessary.
- Gather, organize, and maintain client files and case-related documents in Filevine.
- Ensure all deadlines, court filings, and case milestones are met.
- Coordinate with medical providers, insurance companies, and other third parties.
- Track client treatments and progress to support case development.
- Educate clients on case timelines, expectations, and next steps.
- Ensure clients feel heard, valued, and informed throughout their case.
- Provide reassurance and guidance during stressful situations.
- Advocate for clients’ needs with medical providers and insurance adjusters when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate case records in Filevine for reporting and accountability.
- Document all client interactions to ensure continuity of service.
- Assist in tracking case progress and potential settlement opportunities.
To excel in this role, a paralegal should have a blend of legal knowledge, client service skills, and case management experience. The following is preferred but not required:
- Legal Experience & Knowledge
- Paralegal certificate or degree (preferred but not always required with experience).
- 2 years of experience in personal injury law.
- Understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and court systems.
- Experience preparing legal documents, pleadings, and demand packages.
- Familiarity with case management software (e.g., Filevine, Needles, or Clio).
- Client-Focused Experience
- Background in customer service or client relations, ideally in a high-touch environment.
- Strong ability to communicate complex legal concepts in an easy-to-understand way.
- Experience handling emotional or distressed clients with empathy and professionalism.
- Conflict resolution skills to manage difficult conversations.
- Case & Office Management Skills
- Strong organizational skills to track case deadlines, client communications, and legal filings.
- Experience working with medical records, insurance claims, and settlement negotiations.
- Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously without compromising attention to detail.
- Technology & Data Management
- Proficiency with case management systems, Microsoft Office, and cloud-based tools.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and reports for case tracking and compliance.
- Ability to adapt to new legal technology for efficiency and data integrity.
- Soft Skills & Professionalism
- Empathy and patience in dealing with injured clients and their families.
