Role Summary
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position. Role Summary
- This is an exciting opportunity to continue your financial career in the corporate accounting department of one of the fastest growing life insurance companies in the country. National Life Group currently has an opening for Accountant to join a team that is fundamental to the finance function of the organization. This position offers a chance to gain broad accounting, finance, and industry experience in a dynamic environment. The Accountant reports to the Sr. Accountant on Corporate Accounting team.
- This role requires accounting experience and includes a variety of accounting and financial procedures, including but not limited to, quarter and month end close, accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliations and analyzing results. A successful candidate will exhibit strong attention to detail, be highly organized, and have a working knowledge of GAAP accounting.
- Prepare, post, and reconcile journal entries to ensure accurate general ledger balances.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors for audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and resolve accounting issues.
- Participation in financial close process by preparing journal entries and analyzing results. Ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of processes to help reduce the length of the overall close process.
- Analyze business processes for effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance with corporate policy/procedures, as well as state and federal regulatory authorities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- 5 years’ experience in accounting, financial reporting, and/or auditing.
- Bachelor's degree, concentration in accounting preferred.
- Experience with US GAAP Accounting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think analytically and to apply analytical techniques to provide in-depth analysis and recommendations using critical thinking and sound judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize own work and projects with minimal supervision, continually manage multiple priorities and execute within time constraints.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to anticipate, identify and resolve financial issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Big 4 public accounting experience.
- CPA or on CPA track.
