Role Summary

As the Director of Field Development & Growth, you will be part of a team focused on field leadership development programs and contributing directly to the growth and capabilities within our Affiliated Distribution Channel. This role will be uniquely positioned to help bring the fresh perspectives and passion needed to support the Channel’s growth objectives of attracting talented leaders, strengthening the leadership bench, and ensuring accountability at all levels.  The position requires balancing the operational side of making things happen now, while helping to develop the initiatives for achieving our long-term goals. 

This role will interface and work with key business partners such as Equity Services Inc, Marketing & Brand and Distribution Finance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Leadership Development:

  • Work with General Agents and RVPs to recruit, select, develop and manage second line leaders.
  • Design and implement programs for performance management, accountability and reporting that aligns with our results-based culture.
  • Work with agencies and home office to implement consistent processes for agent recruiting, training & development, activity management and performance management.
  • Collate and analyze data & analytics, in conjunction with our Distribution Finance team, to extract insights and track against KPIs for the support of developing our field leaders.
  • Oversee and redesign a second-line program to improve performance, including an onboarding experience that accelerates a new field leader to company culture, processes, key stakeholders, available resources, and tools.
  • Provide support on our initiative to develop a Next Level Leadership Development program that builds a strong bench of future agency leaders.
  • Provide support for our second-line leadership curriculum that will give field leaders the competencies and knowledge to build a high-performing business unit.
  • Administer support with our vendors and partners that offer recruiting and other leadership tools.
  • Leverage data to design and create actionable performance metrics and programs that monitor and incentivize results oriented behaviors.

 

Field Education:

  • Provide support on our Channel’s NLG Academy that offers a comprehensive educational curriculum for our producers and field leaders. Classes are delivered in multiple formats – in-person, virtually and on-demand videos.
  • Assist in developing new educational programs to support business priorities, skill development, and growth at all levels in the field.
  • Track training metrics and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of our development programs.
  • Provide support for our educational vendors and partners.

Qualifications

  •  Minimum 7 years industry experience in life and/or annuity product distribution.
  •  History of demonstrated success in training, coaching and motivating others to achieve results.
  •  Highly organized, performance driven, results focused, self-starter.
  •  SIE, Series 7 & 66 registration, preferred.
  •  Exceptional relationship management skills, including the ability to get things done, breaking down barriers, and finding/executing solutions.
  • Acts ethically and with integrity.

 

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.  National Life offers a competitive total rewards package which includes: a 401(k) retirement plan match; medical, dental, and vision insurance; a company funded wellness account for director and below employees; 10 paid holidays; a generous paid time off plan (22 days of combined time-off for non-exempt employees and exempt employees have discretion in managing their time, including scheduling time off in the normal course of business, but in no event will exempt employees receive less sick time than required by state or local law); 6 weeks of paid parental leave; and 6 weeks of paid family leave after a year of full-time employment.
