What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camper Support Specialist - Summer Math Camp position at National Math Camps?
Are you passionate about supporting the social, emotional, and academic well-being of gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) students? We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Camper Support Specialist to join our summer math camp team. This unique role is designed to provide individualized support to students ages 11 - 14, ensuring they have a positive and successful camp experience. If you have experience working with students who excel academically but may need additional support navigating social and emotional challenges, we’d love to hear from you.
About Us:
At National Math Camps, we believe that summer math camps provide transformative experiences that deeply strengthen students' mathematical knowledge and identity. Many of today’s premier mathematicians and scientists point to their participation in math camps as a critical step in their mathematical journeys. It is in these immersive programs that they discovered the beauty and joy of mathematics in a tight-knit community of other “mathy” students and decided to pursue careers that push innovation in the STEM fields.
Yet, the demand for rigorous math camps in the U.S. far exceeds the available opportunities, leaving many talented students without access to these life-changing experiences. National Math Camps is addressing this gap by building a large-scale organization to run a variety of math camps across the country, reaching thousands of mathematically talented middle and high school students each year.
Our first two camps are Camp Sierpinski in North Carolina and Camp Conway in California. Both locations will be residential-only, and serve students ages 11 - 14. For summer 2025, both will run two 2-week sessions with 30 campers each.
What You'll Do:
As the Camper Support Specialist for Camp Conway or Camp Sierpinski, you will play a crucial role in the camp community, acting as a resource for both students and staff. This role requires flexibility, empathy, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of gifted and 2e students.
