Remote Non-QM Underwriter

Our client is seeking a Strong Non-QM Underwriter to join their team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in underwriting Non-Qualified Mortgage (Non-QM) loans, including Fix-and-Flip and Bridge Construction loans. This role is crucial to ensuring the issuance of loan approvals and declinations in compliance with RESPA and ECOA guidelines, managing a pipeline efficiently, and maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations. The candidate will work remotely but must be located in the CST or EST time zone and be able to operate during EST working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the issuance of all loan approvals and declinations in accordance with RESPA and ECOA guidelines.
• Review and condition loans to ensure compliance with program guidelines and federal requirements.
• Work closely with processors and Loan Advisors to ensure all loan conditions are cleared promptly.
• Manage a pipeline of loans, adhering to turn times and compliance requirements to ensure timely processing.
• Coordinate the resolution of any auditing deficiencies in collaboration with Quality Assurance and Management teams.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of underwriting decisions, approvals, and conditions.
• Keep current on Non-QM guidelines, Federal and State compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
• Review and underwrite various Non-QM loan products, including but not limited to:
  • Bank Statement Loans
  • DTI Loans
  • Asset Depletion Loans
  • Interest-Only Loans
  • Foreign National Loans
  • Jumbo Loans
  • Fix-and-Flip Loans
  • Bridge Loans
  • Non-Warrantable Condo Loans
  • Subprime Loans
• Evaluate risk and ensure loan approvals meet company guidelines while delivering the best possible client experience.
• Detect potential fraud issues and take appropriate action to resolve them before closing.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage lending, with a strong background in credit underwriting and collateral review.
• Must have extensive experience working with Non-QM loans, specifically Fix-and-Flip and Bridge Construction loans.
• Private lending experience is preferred.
• Deep working knowledge of Non-QM guidelines, along with Federal and State compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in manual underwriting and reviewing complex loan files.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to suggest alternate loan scenarios that provide the best solution for clients.
• Ability to efficiently manage a pipeline, meeting monthly production and quality goals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to detect and mitigate fraud risks.
• High level of professionalism in providing excellent customer service.

Additional Information:

• This position is remote, but candidates must reside in the CST or EST time zone and be able to work within EST working hours.
• Competitive salary of $90,000 per year.
