Summary : This position is located in the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), Office of Space Weather Operations (SWO), with one vacancy in Lanham, MD. Responsibilities : As a Communications Specialist, you will perform the following duties :
- Develop and coordinate key messages for the Office Program to use externally with partners and the public.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the office and line office communications staff.
- Develop and recommend communication and outreach policies for the office program.
- Lead implementation of the Office communication and outreach policies.
- Lead a systematic communications approach to advance office program strategic goals and objectives.
- Work closely with the office director, deputy, and staff experts.
- Lead development of in-reach, outreach, and communications activities and products.
- Analyze external drivers, such as legislation or agency directives, and communicate impacts to operations and management.
Requirements :
This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). Salary for ZA-3 : $82,764 to $128,956; Salary for ZA-4 : $117,962 to $181,216. This position requires a Low Risk Security Clearance for ZA-3 and a Public Trust (Moderate Risk) Security Clearance for ZA-4. A one-year probationary period may be required. Payment of relocation expenses is not authorized. This position is not in the bargaining unit.

EDUCATION : There is no positive education requirement for this position. BASIC REQUIREMENTS : This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience OR substitution of education for experience OR combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies / knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
