What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chapter Services Specialist position at National Organization for Women?
The National Organization for Women (NOW) seeks a Chapter Services Specialist to assist in providing services to state and local chapters. This is a full-time position reporting to and directly supervised by the NOW Vice President.
Primary responsibilities include: supporting state organizations in convening local action teams and/or chapters within their states; assisting with state-level leadership development; recording state and chapter information in the database; obtaining, recording, and reporting state and chapter annual reports; assisting state and local chapters with IRS reporting and status; providing resources; and other duties as assigned by supervisor. NOW is dedicated to intersectional grassroots activism to lead societal change, promote feminist ideals and eliminate discrimination.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably with a concentration in Women's and/or Gender Studies, Political Science or a related field
- Several years related experience preferred
- Experience working with nonprofit membership organizations
- Highly organized; able to keep track of a variety of detailed information
- Familiar with databases; ability to learn use of a database
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with a wide array of diverse individuals across age, race, socio-economic, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and other lines
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and basic graphics skills
- Passion for women's rights and intersectional feminism
- Knowledge/interest in NOW's six core issues (constitutional equality, economic justice, reproductive rights and justice, racial justice, LGBTQIA rights, and ending violence against women)
- Social media skills including Facebook and Twitter
- Enjoys working independently, as well as in a team
