Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The Orthodontic Assistant will work closely with the orthodontist to support patient treatment plans and maintain a sterile environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during procedures, including the placement and removal of braces and other orthodontic appliances.
- Prepare and maintain instruments, equipment, and materials for patient care.
- Utilize four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow efficiency during treatments.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Manage patient records using dental software systems such as Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans and progress.
- Conduct sterilization processes in compliance with infection control protocols.
- Operate 3D scanners for imaging as needed for treatment planning.
- Support pediatric patients with a gentle approach to ensure their comfort during visits.
- Assist in general dentistry procedures as required, including endodontics when necessary.
Requirements
**MUST HAVE ORTHODONTIC ASSISTANT CERTIFICATION**
- Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant or in a similar dental assisting role is preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and infection control standards is essential.
- Familiarity with four-handed dentistry techniques is highly desirable.
- Experience with 3D scanning technology is a plus.
- Proficient in using dental software systems, particularly Epic or similar platforms.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially children.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism at all times.
