Position Summary:
The Career Pathways Initiative (CPI) Student Support Specialist at National Park College is responsible for providing comprehensive support services to eligible students to help them achieve academic and career success. This grant-funded position requires strong case management skills, an understanding of student needs, and a commitment to assisting low-income parents in overcoming barriers to education and employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and process intake paperwork.
- Input student information into database.
- Process invoices and submit purchase orders.
- Maintain budget book with receipts and activity reports.
- Conduct intake assessments to determine student eligibility for CPI services.
- Develop individualized success plans for students, identifying academic, financial, and personal needs.
- Provide case management, including regular check-ins, goal setting, and progress monitoring.
- Assist students in accessing available support services such as childcare, transportation, and financial aid.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community partners to connect students with educational and workforce opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with program guidelines.
- Track and report student progress, retention, and completion data as required by grant funding sources.
- Organize and facilitate workshops on topics such as career readiness, financial literacy, and life skills.
- Assist students by identifying and addressing barriers to success.
- Participate in program development, outreach, and recruitment efforts.
- Stay informed of best practices and policies related to student support services and workforce development.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and student management software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with program regulations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability or verifiable experience working with low-income and non-traditional students.
- Knowledge of community resources, workforce development, and higher education
- Ability to work in an office environment with frequent interaction with students, faculty, and community partners.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, education, or a related field.
- Experience in case management, academic advising, or student support services.
- Experience working with state or federally funded programs is preferred.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish is a plus.

- Some travel may be required for training and outreach activities.
