What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRIO Upward Bound Student Relations Coordinator position at National Park College?
The National Park College TRIO Upward Bound (UB) program is seeking a Student Relations Coordinator. This is a full-time, federal grant-funded, 12-month position with a salary of $41,000. The Student Relations Coordinator will work with first generation, underrepresented students at area target school districts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with recruitment of students from target high schools
- Aid in the identification and selection of program participants
- Attend weekly student advising meetings at target high schools
- Schedule and attend monthly college and university campus visits
- Plan and implement cultural enrichment activities during the school year and during the six-week summer component
- Provide educational and career counseling activities for workshops
- Assist participants with college admissions and financial aid applications –FAFSA
- Maintain detailed and accurate participant records
- Data collection from target schools for annual reports
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Outstanding interpersonal/human relations skills
- Well-developed presentation/public speaking
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work occasional nights, weekends, and travel out of state
- Knowledge of college admissions process, financial aid, and FAFSA
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of youth from under-served communities
- Proficient in computer applications including Adobe Acrobat, Canva and Microsoft Office Suite
- Maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and target schools
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Two years experience working with underrepresented youth
- Two years experience in program/event organization and planning
Physical Requirements:
- Extensive walking
- Prolonged screen time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
