Job Summary
White Rock Medical Center is currently seeking an Emergency Department Technician for full-time opportunities. Under the supervision of nursing staff, the ER Tech assists in the provision of emergency care. The ER Tech performs duties and direct technical care requiring knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical technology.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Works with and assists physicians and nurses and provides technical support for patient care. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team to gather and exchange information related to patient care.
- Assists with mobility, toileting, feeding, and other personal care needs. Comforts patients and family members and responds to their concerns.
- Collects objective data such as vital signs, weight, and placement of oxygen saturation, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems, visual acuity, nutritional intake and output and documents in electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assists in obtaining 12-lead EKGs, wound care, performs phlebotomy to obtain venous blood samples and obtains and delivers other specimens for laboratory analysis. Documents all care provided in the EMR.
- Recognizes and reports abnormal data or findings promptly. Implements physician, provider, and nursing orders responsibly and documents interventions according to hospital protocol in EMR.
- Assists with the transport of patient to other departments.
- Assists with resuscitation / CPR.
- Assists with positioning patients, application of orthopedic splints and dressings, and assists in patient education. Measure and fit crutches and cases and instruct patients on a proper crutch and cane walking.
- Cleans and stocks supplies in the ER, rooms, and changes linen as required, decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Maintains use of appropriate medical equipment and supplies.
- Participates in team meetings.
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Required Licenses/Certifications: Previous Experience as an Emergency Department Technician, BLS from AHA/Red Cross
- Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Communication, organization, computer, team player, works independently with guidance and delegation of RN/Medical Staff
