Job Title: Compliance Attorney – Alternative Business Structure (Part-Time)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly qualified and detail-oriented Compliance Attorney to oversee and ensure compliance with the rules and regulations governing our Alternative Business Structure (ABS) small personal injury law firm. This part-time role is ideal for a licensed attorney with extensive knowledge of legal ethics, ABS regulations, and risk management within a law firm setting.
Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the firm adheres to state and local regulations governing Alternative Business Structures.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Develop, review, and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with ethical and operational standards.
- Audit and Risk Management: Conduct periodic audits to assess compliance risks and identify areas for improvement.
- Training and Guidance: Provide training and ongoing support to staff regarding compliance-related issues, including advertising, fee-sharing, and client confidentiality.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit compliance reports to the appropriate regulatory bodies, as required.
- Advisory Role: Serve as a trusted advisor to the firm’s leadership on compliance-related issues and potential impacts of regulatory changes.
- Monitor Complaints: Oversee the handling of client complaints to ensure they are addressed in accordance with ethical and legal obligations.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active and in good standing with a state bar association.
- Significant experience in legal compliance, ethics, and risk management, particularly with ABS models.
- Strong understanding of personal injury law is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time within a limited weekly schedule.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal research and familiarity with compliance software/tools is desirable.
