Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Splicer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various telecommunications systems. This role requires a strong understanding of computer networking and the ability to work with various tools and equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments. The Splicer will play a crucial role in ensuring reliable connectivity for our clients.
Duties
- Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
- Utilize hand tools and heavy equipment to perform installations safely and efficiently.
- Operate bucket trucks for aerial work on telephone poles or other elevated structures.
- Conduct testing of cables using voltmeters and other diagnostic tools to ensure proper functionality.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot WAN issues and resolve connectivity problems.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including documentation of splicing diagrams and test results.
- Follow safety protocols while climbing ladders or working at heights to ensure personal safety and that of others.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in computer networking principles, including Ethernet and WAN technologies.
- Experience with cabling techniques for both fiber optic and copper installations.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation, particularly bucket trucks.
- Ability to use hand tools effectively for installation tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the capability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
- Willingness to climb heights as required for installations or repairs.
- Previous experience in telecommunications or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
