What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Relations Specialist position at National Sleep Solutions?
A Patient Relations Specialist is essentially the Client Concierge of a medical practice and is thus expected to deliver a 5-star customer experience to every patient or client that he/she encounters. You are the first interaction for our patients, and it is imperative that you make each patient feel welcomed, comfortable, and hopeful. Patients should be greeted enthusiastically by phone and in person, and patient needs should be accommodated whenever possible.
The Patient Relations Specialist is also responsible for clinical administrative functions, such as fielding phone calls, patient intake, registration, scheduling, demographics data entry, insurance verification, collecting payments, other clerical tasks, patient and authorization follow-up, and ensuring that patient insurance billing is both accurate and timely. This person is a team player, leading the charge with exceptional customer service, a passion for patient care, and a strong ability to learn new tasks quickly, including processes within the clinic and software navigation.
To be successful in this position, you will need:
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to multitask, while providing an exceptional experience for anyone that calls our phones or enters our clinic
- A high degree of detail orientation to set multiple priorities and complete tasks systematically, even in the midst of occasional unexpected interruptions during daily work
- The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with everyone you interact with, from patients to referral sources to fellow team members.
- A blend of enthusiasm and cheerfulness along with empathy and compassion to make our patients excited about coming in our doors and feel at home when they are inside receiving treatment.
- Excellent rapport building skills, both over the phone and in person, as well as reliable and efficient computer skills to effectively assist our patients.
- The ability to work closely with all clinic staff to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity
- The ability to sit, stand, kneel/stoop, lift minimally, and move throughout the clinic and office for your entire assigned shift.
- The mindset and determination to not only achieve, but surpass, all of your work goals.
- All applicants must be age 18 or over to be eligible for employment. Preference given to candidates with some college education and previous medical office experience, particularly in the sleep center setting. High school graduates considered.
