Job Summary:
The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing health and safety management systems across multiple locations within the designated region. The role involves managing compliance with OSHA regulations, managing safety programs and training, analyzing incidents and implementing best practices to ensure a safe working environment. This position requires travel within the region to support multiple facilities and coordinate with market level safety personnel. The Regional Safety Manager will play an integral role in the facilitation of continuous improvement in safety, training, compliance, and culture.
- Help maintain and continuously improve all elements within the NTI Safety Management System.
- Lead a team of safety professionals within market locations, in addition to the general oversight of additional contracted safety personnel working on site specific projects in the region.
- Work with site operations leaders within the region to ensure elements of the Safety Management System are communicated, coordinated and implemented.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and interact as needed with any local regulatory agencies.
- Support locations within the region that do not have a designated safety resource by working with local leadership to instill a culture of safety.
- Conduct periodic documented job site observations to evaluate areas of improvement in safety, training, and quality.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify and address unique safety challenges and work towards mitigating those risks.
- Lead and / or facilitate the incident analysis process for injuries and significant near hit occurrences with the goal of identifying root cause(s) and countermeasures.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for safety-related issues, promoting open communication between all on-site personnel and the safety department.
- Assist with development / review of Site-Specific Safety Plans for projects in the region
- Conduct thorough risk assessments or JHA’s for high-risk activities and other scopes of work to improve risk management strategies and safe work practices.
- Track safety performance indicators for the region, including maintenance of OSHA logs as well as leading indicators determined by executive leadership.
- Manage the corrective action process for items identified through site audits, incidents, and near hits
- Manage the Workers Compensation process for all incidents occurring in the region and work with Safety Director and HR team on case management and timely return to work programs.
- Collaboration with Safety Director on additional projects and TSQ needs within the region and organization.
Scope Data/Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- The employee will be working in a construction environment at times thus exposing him/her to production operations. The employee may be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, chemicals and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and metallic particles.
- The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time). Standing, sitting, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing, talking, seeing, and hearing.
- Must have ability to travel within the region, with occasional overnight stays
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Traits:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and outside professionals. Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks and determine priorities.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in a regional or multi-site role
