About the Job:
The National Tropical Botanical Garden is seeking a talented and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations. As CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial health and sustainability of the organization, as well as developing and implementing effective financial strategies to support our mission and goals.
Main Responsibilities:
• Financial Management: Develop and implement effective financial strategies to support the organization's mission and goals.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Manage all aspects of budgeting and forecasting, including financial analysis and compliance requirements.
• Strategic Planning and Leadership: Collaborate with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the organization's mission.
• Board Relations and Reporting: Provide regular financial reports to the Board of Directors and ensure accurate and timely compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks to protect the organization's assets and reputation.
• Tax Filing and Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely tax filings and compliance with all relevant regulations.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a nonprofit organization.
• Proven track record of successful financial management, including experience developing and implementing financial strategies, managing budgets, and overseeing financial reporting and compliance.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Passion for the mission and work of the organization.
• Will require occasional travel.
