If you have ever visited the iconic, historical, and stunning building called “Union Terminal”, you may have thought to yourself, “What a great place to work!”  You would be correct! 

Here at Cincinnati Museum Center, we have a talented team of Museum Engagement staff who are the front-facing team across the gallery spaces in The Children’s Museum, Cincinnati History Museum, Museum of Natural History & Science, and Featured Exhibitions. The Museum Engagement Specialists work with guests of all ages, especially those in early childhood (ages 0-8) to help them and their families learn and explore together. They ensure guests have an enriching, educational and safe experience through engaging with guests, interpreting exhibits and objects, and facilitating learning through play.

We welcome candidates with a wide range of experience and backgrounds. While prior knowledge in local history, natural history, science, or early education is a plus, we are looking for someone who is eager to learn about a variety of topics.     

  • Daily, you would be in the museum galleries and exhibits to assist and engage with guests. There are also opening/closing duties and some ticket-taking. You would proudly represent Cincinnati Museum Center and share your enthusiasm with credibility, curiosity, and a sense of tremendous welcome to all who come to visit during this time. 
  • Daily, you would likely deliver incredible programming and interpretation of exhibits and objects for large and small groups of guests from all types of diverse backgrounds. These programs support experiences across gallery spaces and a variety of topics such as science, history, early childhood development, and art.  
  • You would assist with training for any new staff and volunteers alike by allowing them to job shadow you doing what you do best!  
  • You would work collaboratively with other Cincinnati Museum Center team members and departments to present programs.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Training or experience in Early Childhood or Elementary Education (ages 0 – 11) or related field is preferred. Previous experience in presenting programs, teaching, performing or customer service would be great but not absolutely required.  
  • We are looking for teammates who can be proactive and curious while absorbing information quickly. Our spaces are often full of guests and energy, we are looking for a teammate who thrives in busy and exciting environments while remaining calm and guest-focused. Since there’s always something new and exciting at the museum, we are looking for someone who is flexible, collaborative, and able to manage their time effectively. 
  • We especially desire fun and engaging teammates who enjoy interacting with small and large groups of people from a variety of racial, cultural, ethnic, gender, and generational backgrounds with sensitivity and active listening. If you are someone with a passion for our museums, working with children, public speaking, and excellent communication skills, this is the job for you!

     

  • It is a full-time position, working 40 hours a week. The schedule for this position is Thursday – Monday. Weekend and evening availability is required. Reliable transportation is a must.  

  

  • The majority of your time would be is spent presenting programs, interpreting exhibits and objects, and assisting our excited guests. There can be long periods of standing, sitting, and/or walking throughout the museums. Occasional time is spent in a typical office environment.  

  • You would be part of so many meaningful experiences, inspiration, and lasting memories for many, many guests.  You would enjoy free membership for you and your family for a year.  Even, complimentary tickets to featured exhibits and Omimax films.  Of course, free parking would apply, and even discounts for food and beverages as well as discounts at the gift shop!
