The Instructional Technologist and Faculty Support (ITFS) role primary focus is on the technology used to deliver the education and support the technical infrastructure for teaching and learning. The ITFS is crucial in providing assistance with the management of (Learning Management System & multimedia tools) LMS functions, supporting curriculum development, and facilitating faculty training. This individual will attend various academic and faculty development meetings, including course scheduling, curriculum development, and CTL (Center for Teaching and Learning) sessions. They will assist with specific LMS functions across multiple Canvas instances, provide training, and manage vendor relationships, and support faculty and students in utilizing various educational platforms.
Minimum requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology/Design, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in LMS support, academic operations, or curriculum development.
- Proficiency with platforms such as CampusNexus, Canvas LMS, DropOut Detective, CourseKey, and other educational technologies
Technical Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), DocuSign, Teams, and Adobe PDF.
- Familiarity with vendor platforms such as SurveyMonkey,CNOWv2, MindTap, WebAssign, Connect, and other educational tools.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, instructional designers, and administrative teams.
- Experience assisting in vendor relationships and supporting multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency in creating and managing surveys and assessments
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the management of multiple Canvas LMS instances (DAVE, FTC, NUC), including posting global announcements, verifying course content and resources, and ensuring compliance with language and templates.
- Provides support in managing faculty and student access, and assist in assigning and coordinating Teaching Assistants (TAs) and TA Champions.
- Offers assistance with Canvas Tools, DropOut Detective, BigBlueButton, TurnItIn, and other integrated technologies.
- Assists in maintaining relationships with educational vendors such as Cengage Unlimited, Pearson, McGraw Hill, uCertify, VitalSource, Elsevier, and Wiley.
- Collaborates with vendors and coordinate product training sessions for curriculum development teams.
- Supports LMS integration with platforms such as CNOWv2, MindTap, WebAssign, and Connect.
- Assists in generating product usage reports, tracking purchase orders, acquiring VBID numbers for single sign-on, and managing distribution codes for resources.
- Provides training to Academic Leaders, Subject Matter Experts, Student Support, and Faculty on using LMS platforms and specific tools like BigBlueButton, TurnItIn, and Canvas functionalities.
- Attends and contributes to course development meetings, assist with scheduling SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), and support course revision workload management.
- Assists instructional designers and curriculum specialists with resource acquisition and VBID integration for new course content.
- Provides term schedules to course auditors and assist with course pre-audits and updates after term starts.
- Generates and manages assessment documentation using SurveyMonkey.
- Creates and publishes student surveys for campus distribution and assist in managing survey data for campus leadership.
- Develops specialized surveys for events and other campus-specific needs, including feedback from graduates, employers, and externships.
- Assists with purchasing to generate PO numbers for vendor products and track campus breakdown costs.
- Provides document management support, including updating campus catalogs, course syllabi, textbooks, program supply costs, and monitoring accreditation compliance.
- Attends Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) meetings and assist in managing new faculty participation in required CTL courses.
- Supports the coordination of professional development courses and maintain faculty lists for participation.
- Works on special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs and or Director of Retention and Educational Effectiveness
