POSITION DESCRIPTION

As part of a small Marketing and Communications team, the Creative Communications Specialist supports institutional brand strategies, engagement, and lead-generation initiatives. The role requires a talented graphic designer, photographer, and video producer who can create visually compelling designs and multimedia content that enhance the university’s brand identity and effectively communicate key messages to prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the broader community. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications and collaborating with the Marketing Content Specialist, this position is an integral part of a creative team focused on elevating the visibility, reputation and brand awareness of NUNM.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Graphic Design: Design and produce high-quality graphics that align with brand consistency for digital and print materials, including social media graphics, posters, single- and multi-page publications, merchandise, advertising, websites, and more.
  • Photography: Capture high-quality images of university events, people (portraits), details for articles, publications, website, social media, advertising. Creates, coordinates and implements photoshoots. Perform post-production editing to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with the institution’s brand standards. Manage photo archive, tagging and cataloging images for easy retrieval, and ensuring proper backup and storage.
  • Video Production: Creates, edits, and publishes video and multimedia content about student and patient experiences, faculty research, alumni successes; for admissions campaigns, social media, website, digital advertising.
  • Use knowledge of social media best practices to maximize impact and presence of university.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals.
  • Update content on WordPress websites.
  • Deliver relevant new content consistently; continually assess and alter content strategy to achieve strong engagement.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, visual arts, or related field. Minimum 2–4 years of experience as a graphic designer, photographer and/or multimedia producer, preferably in higher education, nonprofit or healthcare industries; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; and two years of experience in graphic design and/or multimedia production; or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex ideas or information in accessible and compelling ways.
  • Strong understanding of brand journalism and how to create content for targeted audiences.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, with specific use of InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere or AfterEffects.
