Position SummaryThe Department of Nursing, in the School of Health Professions at National University invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor in Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice. The successful candidate will have the potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship in their field and a commitment to serving the university's diverse adult student body. This position is onsite. This position works closely with other faculty within the discipline and administration contributing to programmatic strategies that ensure program quality, student engagement, and success. As a clinical champion of student success, this faculty member innovates and collaborates within the University and with external clinical sites to deliver outstanding course content, clinical skills development, and academic programs to the diverse student population at National University. This position works in collaboration with the DNAP Program Director and serves as a technical expert who provides direct support for High-Fidelity / High-Technology (HF / HT) and virtual simulation. Essential FunctionsCandidates will be evaluated for their level of proficiency and potential (for excellence) in teaching, scholarship, and service. The main expectations of this position include : TeachingProvide exceptional student experience in Advanced HiFi Simulations, which complements didactic learning, mirrors clinical environments, and provides learning through transformation of experience. Collaborate with DNAP Program Director and DNAP faculty on the simulation laboratory to develop training programs and clinical scenarios involved with scenario planning and design.Provide and implement solutions to enhance the delivery of simulation-based education.Assist with the piloting and delivery of simulation-based training and other educational activities undertaken during the simulation project, commissioning, and operational phases.Instruct and assist simulation educators, faculty, and learners in the use of technical equipment used in simulation like high fidelity versus a low fidelity mannequin, use of anesthesia gas machines, use of HoloLenz, use of central venous access mannequins, use of peripheral nerve block mannequins, use of neuraxial mannequins, use of Pyxis, and type of moulage, the use of sim rooms, number of scenarios, collaborating on type of scenarios, and having a list of disposable medical equipment needed for the scenario.Participate in grant activities related to High-Fidelity / High-Technology (HF / HT) and virtual simulation.Assist the program director in facilitating and maintaining accreditation of the program.Assist in assessment and continuous quality improvement of the overall program and curriculum.Assist in didactic and clinical curriculum development.Mentor DNAP residents in publications to the International Journal of Student Nurse Anesthetists.Participate in commencement exercises and other important University, school, and program events.Teach and develop onsite courses.Maintain pedagogical and subject matter expertise in the instructor's field.Create an inclusive and positive learning environment for diverse learners. Ensure course and program practices align with compliance and accreditation standards.Adhere to the National University's academic integrity policy. ScholarshipMaintain a productive scholarship agenda suitable to a teaching university.Engage in scholarly activities to maintain professional growth.Participate in professional development as outlined in faculty policies.The department faculty will develop a research and scholarship plan in consultation with their Department Chair / Associate Dean.Faculty will describe their plans for research and scholarly activities in their FAP and report progress in their Annual Activity Review (AAR). ServiceParticipate in curriculum oversight, shared governance, and the student experience.Serve on committees at the program, department, school, college or / and university level and engage in community activities that promote program outreach and university goals.Participate in program meetings and advisory boards to integrate best practices and strategic initiatives.Provide service at the program, school, and / or University levels as outlined in the Faculty Annual Plan (FAP). Provide Faculty Annual Plan (FAP) annually to the Associate Dean of Faculty.Participate in faculty governance and perform administrative responsibilities as assigned.Complete all training assigned (faculty development, required compliance trainings, etc.)The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications : Education & Experience : Unencumbered CRNA license in California required.Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP) or nurse anesthesia practice (DNAP), with specialty as a nurse anesthetist required.A minimum of two years', within the last 5 years, clinical care experience in the field related to the clinical appointment required.Evidence of or potential for excellence in the clinical teaching area required.A minimum of two (2) years of simulation experience is preferred.Knowledge of Nurse Anesthesia accreditation policies and procedures preferred.Clinical nurse anesthesia teaching experience preferred.Special conditions of employment include : Background check required.Travel is required at least once annually to attend the annual Commencement ceremony (if held onsite).For full consideration, interested candidates should provide the following : A cover letter that includes.A curriculum vitaStatement of teaching experience online and / or onsite for a diverse student body.#LI-JL1#LI-OnsiteCompensation Range : Hourly : $75,798.00 - $94,760.00Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary / pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate's qualifications, skills, and competencies. Salary : $75,798 - $94,760
