The National Western Stock Show is in search of a hands-on, highly motivated leader to join our team as the Manager of Parking Operations.
Overview
The Manager of Parking Operations is the head of National Western’s Parking Department and as such oversees all aspects of the department from its people to its processes. This position is responsible for ensuring all guests and Parking employees alike have a safe and positive experience while on the property.
The ideal candidate has a background in parking operations and / or event planning / management and has strong written & verbal communication skills. This individual is a proven leader and sets an example for their team by being a multi-tasker who can manage various tasks and customers at one time while maintaining a calm, positive, and professional demeanor.
Reports to : Senior Director of Operations
Duties & Responsibilities
- Hires, trains, schedules, and manages all Parking Department employees, including Staff, Assistant Leads, Leads, and Assistant Managers.
- Fosters a work environment in which people are enabled to perform to the best of their abilities. Works with Senior Director of Human Relations & Hiring to create and present performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions if / when necessary.
- Interprets company policies and protocols to employees. Enforces policy and safety regulations.
- Works with Complex Events & Operations teams to determine parking & traffic needs for upcoming shows. Prepares detailed parking & traffic flow plans that meet the needs of each show.
- Creates accurate staffing schedules based off of show needs. Works with staff to fill openings and assign employees to appropriate areas based on their skills and experience.
- Accurately configures ParkMobile data management so that guests are charged for the appropriate event and price.
- Actively oversees traffic flow and parking within the grounds and streets bordering NW facilities. Determines if lots need to be opened / closed based on show attendance and car volume.
- During shows, regularly circulates among staff to ensure all employees are set up for success and receiving support as needed. Completes all opening and closing duties, including staff check in / out. Works as Parking Staff / Traffic Flagger as needed.
- Prepares revenue and labor reports to distribute to the Complex Events and Operations teams. Presents these reports in weekly Operations meetings.
- Maintains all parking lots in pristine condition and repairs related equipment as needed.
- Maintains inventory of critical supplies including parking passes, flagging tape, flags, parking vests, flashlights, batteries, lumber, and barrier rope.
- Prepares annual Parking Operations budget. Reconciles purchases against budget to ensure department is aligned with approved amounts.
- Demonstrates a continuous effort and initiative to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide excellent internal and external customer service.

Physical Demands
National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, rain, and on varied surfaces. Our employees must be able to work indoors and outdoors with regular and prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, must be comfortable working at heights and be able to work around moving machinery and equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds.
Scheduling Requirements
While this position will have some set hours, schedules are likely to change on a regular basis based on the needs of upcoming shows. Early mornings, late nights, and weekends are all to be expected. Candidates must have open availability and be willing to work at various hours to complete the primary functions of this role.
Like almost all NWSS team members, this position will need to be on-site every day during Stock Show, typically for 12-16 hours at a time.
