Job Title: Industrial Engineering Intern – Manufacturing/Industrial

Job Purpose:
Analyze and evaluate existing systems and processes, identifying value-added and non-value-added activities to solve design challenges. Conceive, design, test, and develop innovative solutions based on analysis and organizational objectives. Evaluate and explore new and existing processes, equipment, and materials as an input to scheduling methods, performance metrics and financial standard.
Essential Job Responsibilities: Following are the specific job responsibilities and duties necessary to accomplish the job purpose.
- Utilize principles of mathematics, science, and engineering to streamline processes
- Identify opportunities to prevent waste and inefficiencies in production
- Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility, utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to formulate/support innovation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities
- Develop and design robust manufacturing concepts to simplify/improve manufacturing processes to ensure best practice in manufacturing, evaluating performance, identifying issues, and make improvements
- Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis and line balancing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain insight and direction
- Develop management control systems to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient
- Designing the layout of facilities and determining personnel requirements
- Create work instructions
Essential Skills, Experience and Education: Following are the skills, experience, education, and related course work typically required or expected to perform the essential job functions:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in process documentation
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a related field, or Senior status within 1 year of obtaining degree.
Essential Physical Requirements: The physical factors and working conditions required or expected while performing the essential functions of the job are described below:
- Occasionally lift, carry, pull and push 25 lbs. unassisted.
- Regularly squat, stoop, bend at waist, turn at waist to complete function above.
- Regularly sit at desk and perform regular office duties, such as typing, faxing, and copying

- Monday thru Friday
- 8 AM – 5 PM
