Job Purpose:
The mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs and retrofitting on industrial machinery and heavy equipment; and performs maintenance and custodial services in the shop.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Following are the specific job responsibilities and duties necessary to accomplish the job purpose.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators to diagnose equipment problems.
- Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
- Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
- Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
- Study blueprints and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.
- Record parts and materials used, and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed.
- Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Essential Skills, Experience and Education:
Following are the skills, experience, education and related course work typically required or expected to perform the essential job functions:
- Minimum of 3 years of Mechanic experience in an Industrial, Manufacturing or Construction setting.
- Must have knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electricity.
- Must have experience with process machinery.
- Must be able to operate forklift and overhead crane.
- Must be able to perform basic welding.
- Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred.
Essential Physical Requirements:
The physical factors and working conditions required or expected while performing the essential functions of the job are described below:
- Regularly lift, carry, pull and push 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Regularly squat, stoop, bend at waist, turn at waist to complete function above.
- Requires regular climbing.
