What Does a Stocker/Load Builder Do?
- Move product throughout the yard and pull materials from storage for pick-up or shipment
- Build loads and load trucks for outbound delivery, ensuring materials are banded/organized for safe handling
- Remove lumber from units, sort by grade and length, and place in appropriate racks or storage locations
- Assist with inventory control and remove defective/damaged lumber from racks
- Help customers load lumber and building materials, providing fast, friendly, and accurate service
- Maintain the yard's appearance, including racks and storage areas
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others
- Process customer purchases, including cash handling, voids, returns, and exchanges
- Proactively engage with customers, assess their needs, and provide product guidance
- Uphold customer service best practices, ensuring a positive shopping experience
- Maintain the sales floor and stock areas, keeping the store clean
- Comply with all company policies, maintaining respectful relationships with coworkers
- Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned
What Does It Take to Be Successful as a Stocker/Load Builder?
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of forklift operation experience highly preferred
- Previous building material experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50-75lbs consistently and bend, twist, squat and reach throughout work shift
- Results-oriented with the ability to serve stores with humility and be a steward of Nation’s Best’s values.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while remaining adaptable and flexible
- Strong interpersonal skills with willingness to consistently provide superior customer service skills
