Director of Operations - Commercial Roofing

Position Summary: The Director of Operations will run and manage all office operations. This includes overseeing financial budgeting, leading operations meetings, managing our warehouse, and fleet operations. The ideal candidate will possess leadership skills, financial acumen, and an eagerness to ensure the success of the team and the organization.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Drive Operational Excellence: Manage the commercial operations department for optimal performance, efficiency, and profitability.
• Lead & Collaborate: Supervise and mentor project managers and superintendents while collaborating with estimators and service department to ensure the highest level of quality, safety, and work performance in roofing installations.
• Full Project Oversight: Oversee and contribute to all operational aspects—from site visits to installations to ensuring all projects meet company standards.
• Team Leadership: Provide clear direction to the operations department and across the company, studying methods to enhance work performance and operational standards.
• Monitor & Report: Review time, attendance, material usage, budget, and performance data while ensuring staff compliance with company policies and goals.
• Client & Team Communication: Maintain open communication with clients, employees, and senior management, addressing challenges and sales opportunities promptly.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry developments and technology, ensuring the team remains informed and trained on the latest advancements.
• Training & Development: Organize and deliver safety, quality, and customer satisfaction training for roofing crews and service personnel.
• Recruitment & Retention: Attract, train, and retain a talented workforce while ensuring all team members adhere to OSHA and company safety standards.
• Strategic Planning: Utilize advanced planning skills to establish and maintain maximum productivity across the department and workforce.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Leadership & Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with reading blueprints and specifications; intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
• Budgeting & Performance: Ability to budget, track departmental performance, and motivate teams.
• Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of roofing, design requirements, codes, and materials, ensuring accurate proposals and competitive contracts.

Education & Experience:

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. A combination of relevant education and experience is also acceptable.
• Experience: A minimum of five years in commercial roofing, or equivalent experience in a related field such as manufacturing or distribution within the commercial roofing marketplace.
• Experience with Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and construction operations management is highly preferred.
