Sr. Research Associate, Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, OH. Design experiments and conduct research in projects related to genetic disorders including but not restricted to neuromuscular disorders. Projects will potentially help to treat patients with devastating diseases such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Perform research experiments independently in accordance with protocols approved by the principal investigator. Such experiments involve the use of laboratory animals or human subjects. Perform molecular experiments (qPCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR IF, WB). Conduct mouse colony management, injections (such as intravenous, intraperitoneal) and dissection in connection with research along with tissue mounting for use in research studies, as applicable. Collect muscle, blood and other organs as needed, and ensure accuracy of laboratory analytical procedures as required by specific research projects, and maintain accurate daily logs of experiments including purpose, method, results, conclusion, and future direction. Interpret and analyze results of data with input from the principal investigator and provide assistance in the preparation of scientific publications and grant proposals. Min. requirements include: Master’s degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology plus 2 years of experience including 2 years of experience on the bench and troubleshooting experiments; 2 years of experience with mouse models and molecular techniques; 2 years of experience using software for analysis of data; and 2 years of experience maintaining documentation of experiments and data.
