Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Manages laboratory team, ensuring patient testing is performed accurately and efficiently. Provides guidance and education, promoting a team environment and maintaining a cooperative and supportive atmosphere.
- Performs routine and complex technical procedures and trains others in proper use of laboratory equipment and systems. Covers on-call responsibilities including STAT testing and storage temperature monitoring as needed.
- Participates in the development and implementation of protocols to support laboratory tests and projects and to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Assists with inspection preparation and serves as a liaison during inspections.
- Manages supply inventory and contributes to section planning and budgeting.
- Participates in quality improvement, monitoring, and reporting. Supports the research, creation, and review of quality control and improvement documentation and of regulatory and compliance assignments.
- Serves as General Supervisor as defined by CAP/CLIA requirements and Laboratory Supervisor as defined by New York State CLEP as appropriate.
