Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs in their daily lives. Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
- Provide meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition according to dietary needs.
- Monitor and document vital signs as needed, reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in recreational activities to promote social interaction.
- Observe and report any changes in clients' conditions or behaviors to supervisors or family members.
- Administer first aid and CPR when necessary, ensuring the safety of clients at all times.
- Support clients in home community care settings, assisting them with transportation and errands as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Skills
- Experience in home care settings is preferred.
- Proficient in meal preparation techniques tailored to individual dietary needs.
- Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and the ability to recognize significant changes.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required.
- Strong observational skills to assess client needs effectively.
- Compassionate demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with clients.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility in various situations.
