Direct Support Professional (Full Time)

Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs in their daily lives. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence, dignity, and personal growth. The DSP will work closely with clients to ensure their physical, emotional, and social needs are met in a compassionate and respectful manner.

Duties

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
• Provide meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition according to dietary needs.
• Monitor and document vital signs as needed, reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Offer companionship and engage clients in recreational activities to promote social interaction.
• Observe and report any changes in clients' conditions or behaviors to supervisors or family members.
• Administer first aid and CPR when necessary, ensuring the safety of clients at all times.
• Support clients in home community care settings, assisting them with transportation and errands as required.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Skills

• Experience in home care settings is preferred.
• Proficient in meal preparation techniques tailored to individual dietary needs.
• Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and the ability to recognize significant changes.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is required.
• Strong observational skills to assess client needs effectively.
• Compassionate demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with clients.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility in various situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
