Pay Rate: $15.00/hour during training with additional earning potential based on productivity once training period is complete.

Position Summary:

The Sewing Machine Operators will assemble uniform apparel. They will operate high-speed industrial sewing machines that stitch clothing parts into individual garments or will perform a manual task involved in the final details of our garments.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a high-speed industrial sewing machine using a variety of materials, e.g., cotton, rayon, polyester and wool or combination of fabric contents.
  • Measure, cut, pin, and sew fabric pieces.
  • Fit, alter, and make made-to-measure clothing according to customers specifications and guidelines.
  • Press garments, using hand irons or pressing machines.
  • Follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Maintains sewing machine to ensure proper working order.
  • Keeps working area clean and orderly.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Sewing and hemming experience highly preferred
  • Candidates should be willing to learn and be able to perform detailed work.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain good working relations with others and work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks and functions with a minimal loss of productivity and no loss of quality.
  • Must be able to read job instructions and have adequate math skills.
  • Strong hand/eye coordination and attention to details.

Physical Requirements:

  • Positional: May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to grasp or manipulate small items for assembly. Lift 5 to 10 pounds periodically.
  • Gross Mobility: Rare climbing, or crawling. Infrequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Sensory: Rare tasting/smelling. Use of color vision. Occasional use of far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision. Frequent use of near and midrange visual acuity, and visual accommodation. Frequent to constant talking.
