Salary : Job Summary :
The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for the intake of patients and preparing them to be seen by thepractitioners. The MA will collect baseline clinical data, assist the medical staff as directed, assist with workflow between front desk and clinic, and will provide support as directed by his / her supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities and Expectations :
Time and effort is 100% patient-focused service delivery Monday through Friday.
Screens and records patients medical history in chart and alert practitioners to special needs.
Prepare medical rooms as needed for patient examinations
Assist the practitioners with discharge instructions and required follow up care.
Administer medications per practitioners direct supervision
Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies
Clean and sterilize instruments
Inventories and maintains clinic patient supplies

Minimum Qualifications (Experience / Education) :
Medical Assistant certificate before or at hire
Current CPR certification
One-year experience as an MA in a family practice setting, including experience with pediatric and adult patients
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, required
Previous experience with electronic heath record systems
Evidence of current medication administration knowledge and skills
Must have reliable transportation
Must be able to pass a background check
Must be reliable and punctual
Competencies or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) :
General :
Knowledge of medical clinic purpose and operations
Ability to prioritize duties, perform them efficiently and adjust to and accept unexpected events
Knowledge of medical terminology
Medication administration knowledge and skills, including passing medication administration test and injection safety quiz
Knowledge of Infection Control and Blood Borne Pathogen processes
Ability to work efficiently and be a team player with other medical clinic staff
Knowledge of supply utilization and assist with cost efficiency
Off Site :
Surveillance testing for COVID-19 and / or other testing as directed by providers
Maintain scope of practice standards and guidelines of Medical Assistant certification
Physical Demands & Working Conditions :
Work is primarily in a small healthcare clinic environment.
Frequently sit, with continuous full use of hands, repetitive movement, keyboarding, and clear vision, as well as speak and hear normal conversation.
Requires high attention to detail with frequent deadlines, and internal and external social interaction.
This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching overhead, pulling, and pushing.
Frequent lifting up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting over 50 pounds is required.
Transferring patients and objects may be required.
The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to wear protective clothing in isolation situations or invasive procedures.
