MISSION

The Mission of Native American LifeLines is to promote health and social resiliency within Urban American Indian communities. Native American LifeLines applies principles of trauma informed care to provide culturally centered behavioral health, dental, outreach and referral services.

AGENCY OVERVIEW

Native American Lifelines Inc. (NAL) is a small nonprofit community-based agency in Baltimore, MD, with an additional service location in Boston, MA. NAL serves American Indians / Alaskan Natives, primarily providing health education, health promotion, case management, substance abuse counseling, dental services, transportation, and support groups.

NAL has an annual operating budget of approximately $2.4million, a staff of 10-15 full time employees, various contractors and a growing behavioral health internship / externship program. Our program is part of a network of 42 Urban Indian Health Organizations nationally and a member of the National Council of Urban Indian Health. NAL's substance use & mental health outpatient treatment program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

POSITION SUMMARY

The program assistant will be responsible to perform general clerical / office duties to include, but not limited to, copying, faxing, answering phones, filing, and data entry. This role provides support to the Site Director and Community Health Worker, including client scheduling, the organization of health education and prevention activities, transportation coordination, and participation in community outreach events. This role requires use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

  • Oversee all aspects of general office coordination
  • Answer telephones and interact with clients and visitors
  • Provide support to Program Staff
  • Coordinate schedules and reminder calls
  • Office supply inventory
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Preparing Boston expense reports / managing cardholder expense report submission
  • Process all departmental mail received at the Boston location
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications

  • At minimum, a high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Successful candidate will have experience working in a related field and must be familiar with administrative duties including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and mail merges for mass mailings.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or sensitivity to Native cultures and traditions highly desired.
  • TELEWORK / REMOTE WORK

    This position may be eligible for limited telework after 90 days, or situationally as determined by leadership. Some travel between NAL service locations in Baltimore and Boston is required. All work-related travel will be paid for by NAL.

    HOURS

    Business hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Some evenings and weekends are required.

Native American LifeLines expanded services to Boston, Massachusetts, in 2011, and currently serves Urban American Indians and Alaska Natives in both the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. Our behavioral health program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
