- As a Medical Assistant working at NAMHS it is the responsibility of each individual to maintain the highest levels of professional quality and ethics. The following duties and responsibilities are all critical aspects of this position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Take vitals upon patient check-in: height, weight, BP, oxygen level, chief complaint, drug, and food allergies
- Record vitals into chart immediately
- Collect urine/oral toxicology samples and send off same day
- Collect genetic testing requested by providers
- Thoroughly document every conversation with patients or providers regarding patient
- Administer injections under direct supervision of a provider, using the current standard for Universal Precautions
- Maintain medical records
- Call/fax refill requests
- Process treatment authorization requests and prior authorization requests
- Obtain lab results at providers request
- Communicate with all clinic personnel
- Assist prescribing providers with any work-related duties
- Call in final prescription refills for suspended patients per providers advisement
- Maintain contact with pharmaceutical reps
- Disperse samples at providers request
- Initiate patient assistance programs as available for patients
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings as indicated
- Maintain team work ethics
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical office experience required
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite
