Title: Addictions Outreach Specialist
Location: Outpatient - 1631 SW Columbia St, Portland, OR 97201
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm, Hours of work are flexible to meet program needs with some evenings and weekends.
Wage Range: $20.55 - $25.00, non-exempt

Position Overview:
Addictions Outreach Team Member assists in development and implementation of outreach services for individuals with a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) diagnoses. This may include admission to a medical detox facility, working with clients to access a residential treatment facility or find a shelter bed and other services as directed by Recovery Support Services manager. Our efforts are conducted in homeless shelters, hospitals, jails, community agencies and walk-ins at NARA facilities for individuals who have SUD. Outreach works to enhances Native American individuals access to relevant services for holistic care to include prevention, and addictions treatment.
What you will do:
- Participate in team outreach assessments when appropriate.
- Develop an action plan for individuals identified by outreach team, referral to other supports and resources.
- Outreach to community alcohol and drug treatment providers.
- Outreach to individuals in hospitals, involved in correction system or who are homeless.
- Regular outreach to area detox centers to facilitate access for individuals needing detoxification services.
- Regular attendance as a NARA representative to HADIN meetings.
- Provide culturally appropriate clinical consultation and advocacy to enhance care of Native American individuals in hospitals, jails, schools, public agencies and in the community.
- Promote Outreach activities and other agency services at community events such as pow-wow, annual picnics, and tribal events.
- Function as a member of the SUD treatment teams.
- Participate in outreach activities to assess individual treatment needs.
- Provide assistance for patients transitioning into treatment services.
- Triage needs and work with individual to prioritize referrals and resources.
- Follow up with referral sources to determine outcome of outreach and continued coordination.
- Participate in agency and intra-agency meetings to coordinate outreach activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
We would like to hear from people that have:
- Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) certificate through MHACBO required
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required
- Minimum two years’ (preferred) experience serving the serving the needs of adults with SUD
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with community members, the community and staff
- Ability to work collaboratively with community members, other NARA staff, and community partners, always treating everyone with respect and dignity
- Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus
- Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests
- Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks
