Title: Controller
Location: Riverhouse - 211 SE Caruthers St. Portland, OR 97212
Schedule: This is an in person position, Monday through Friday 8:30am-5pm.
Wage Range: $95K - $120K, Exempt, Salary

Position Overview:

The Controller is responsible for the maintenance of effective fiscal management systems and policies including fiscal processing, general ledger accounting, financial statement design and preparation, and following legal and regulatory requirements.

What you will do:

Assist with the design and implementation of accounting systems in compliance with GAAP and appropriate government and accounting requirements, including the general ledger and all appropriate subsidiary ledgers and journals.
Supervision of accounting staff to assure timely and accurate completion, confidentiality and compliance with regulatory, tax, and deposit requirements.
Implements and monitors financial systems and internal accounting controls for the agency.
Design, preparation, and analysis of monthly agency financial statements, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
Facilitate audit processes, statistical and financial analysis, and ensure compliance with fiscal policies and procedures.
Responsible for compliance and reporting requirements and federal property management.
Cash management and tracking of multiple accounts.
Attends finance, budget, grant and related meetings as needed or assigned by the Sr. Director of Accounting.
Works together with the CFO, Senior Director of Accounting, Grant Finance Director, Director of FP&A and Procurement, and the Revenue Cycle Director to provide financial and budgetary information to assist Senior Leadership in making sound, timely decisions.
Backs up Senior Director of Accounting as needed.

We would like to hear from people that have:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 3 years experience as a manager of fiscal operations.
CPA certificate required.
5 years supervisory experience.
Prior experience with a large nonprofit and administering federal grants a plus.
Knowledge of fiscal and business management with demonstrated competence in supervision, data collection and producing timely financial statements.
Must have working knowledge of GAAP principles, audit process, federal cost principles, grant funding accounting, compliance and property management requirements.
Proficiency w/MS Office and accounting software (Financial Edge experience a plus).
Exceptional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, consultation and mediation skills, organizational skills, high accuracy, flexibility, ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
Enjoys and gains energy from managing/juggling multiple urgent tasks and items.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members.
Collaborate with clients, other NARA staff, team members, and treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times.
Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Financial Edge experience
Medical and Mental Health Revenue Cycle accounting experience
Federally Qualified Health Care Center experience
Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community
