SUMMARY

Perform tasks involving physical labor at heavy construction sites. May operate a variety of hand and power tools. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, minor painting, perform general carpenter duties, and remove waste materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.

Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent, Project Manager or HR Manager.

Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, etc.

Perform and complete minor painting duties including: using brushes, rollers etc. to complete small painting projects for cleaning and/or protection.

Performs basic carpentry skills and completes projects as needed through the use of sometimes heavy materials and tools.

Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.

Required to inspect the jobsite for safety compliance, including climbing ladders, using ropes, lanyard and body harnesses.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is highly desired, and 2-4 years of general labor, painting, and basic carpentry experience. Experience working in the government commercial construction industry is also highly desired.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, blueprints, scale drawings, schematics, and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and subcontractors.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The individual is required to have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. The individual must meet all requirements necessary to access and/or work on government installations.
