NAYA Family Center is seeking a Cully Economic Development Coordinator to help foster an inclusive and thriving local economy in the Cully neighborhood. This role will support community-driven economic development initiatives that strengthen local businesses, increase employment opportunities, and enhance commercial real estate. Collaboration is at the heart of this role, partnering with small business owners, workforce development organizations, and community partners to ensure economic growth aligns with community values and priorities.

This is a full-time role with work hours of 9 am to 6 pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch. Some evening and weekend work may be required based on project needs. Once training and onboarding are complete, there may be flexibility to work from home 1-2 day a week.
The salary for this position is $60-65k annually.

- You are comfortable conducting outreach, engaging with the public, and speaking in both formal and informal settings.
- You understand financial concepts related to small businesses and can connect entrepreneurs with technical assistance and funding resources.
- You value data-driven decision-making and are comfortable tracking program metrics to measure impact.
- You are adaptable, flexible, and able to manage changing priorities without compromising the quality of your work.
- You demonstrate self-awareness, listening deeply, centering others, and taking accountability for your actions.
- You are consistently punctual, reliable, and dependable in support of your team and clients.
- You are proficient in computer skills, including web-based research, word processing, MS Excel, and database management.
- You possess a current Oregon or Washington driver’s license, and the ability to be insured under NAYA’s liability insurance policy (i.e. no more than one major driving violation in the last three years).
What You'll Do
- Provide technical assistance and connect local businesses to funding, training programs, and networking opportunities.
- Collaborate with workforce development organizations to help Cully residents access job opportunities, career training, and professional mentorship.
- Help small businesses with navigating commercial leasing, business operations, and financial resources.
- Support neighborhood improvement efforts by helping revitalize commercial spaces and public areas.
- Build relationships with business owners, community members, and local organizations to understand economic needs and priorities.
- Contribute to business recruitment and retention efforts to ensure a diverse and thriving local economy.
- Assist in implementing Cully’s Tax Increment Financing (TIF) and district improvement planning to promote inclusive economic development.
- Track and analyze economic data, including business retention, job creation, commercial leasing trends, and workforce participation.
- Conduct outreach at business-related events, strengthening connections with public and private stakeholders.
- Collaborate with community partners to align workforce development programs with the needs of Cully residents.
- Research and monitor commercial real estate trends, including available properties for sale or lease.
- Maintain data systems and documentation to track program outcomes and measure impact.
