ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Register participants for the Pathways after-school program.
- Assists with the implementation of school and weekday activities and events for program participant children including working with volunteers and staff.
- Organizes and prepares the program activities weekly.
- Develop recreational and educational activities for the program.
- Maintains a tidy and safe environment for participants.
- Facilitates all aspects of the program if or while the Program Coordinator is unavailable.
- Supervises students with an intern/volunteer during after school program.
- Maintains accurate records relating to program participants and van usage.
- Supports and promotes Zero Suicide Initiatives across the organization.
- Contacts with parents via home visits, email, and telephone calls when necessary.
- Assists transportation for participants including parental authorization.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Participates in the Quality Improvement Program through incident reporting and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirement
High School diploma or GED. One to two-year experience in working with “at-risk” children and youth in an educational and/or recreational setting. Must be at least 18 years old and preferred Navajo speaking. This position is covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes. BLS Certification and HIPAA Certification (can be acquired before and/or after hire). Possess a valid state Driver’s License. Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card (FCC). Must pass a criminal background check investigation and Fingerprint Clearance in accordance with NACA Policy. Must be current with required immunization per the NACA HR Policies and Procedures and Infection Control Policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of a variety of education/recreational instruction and leadership.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, parents, children, etc. Show sufficiency to exchange or convey information. Being culturally aware is a plus.
- Knowledge of recreational and educational activities such as climbing, skiing, crafts, etc., sufficient to develop and lead recreational activities.
- Ability to schedule and coordinate activities.
- Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft software
