POSITION DESCRIPTION
Natividad is seeking to fill temporary Food Service Worker II positions. Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a combination of skilled and semiskilled duties on a relatively regular basis such as baking, preparing special diet foods, etc.
Examples of Duties
- Read, understand, and follow recipes to prepare food in a tasty and attractive manner.
- Judge the quantities of food required to serve a given number and to prepare food with a minimum of waste.
- Performs a combination of skilled and semiskilled duties in directly assisting or assuming the duties of bakers, cooks preparing special diet meals, dietitian aide, etc.
- May organize and oversee the work of others.
- Comprehend, read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to follow oral and written instructions to complete time and other administrative forms or records.
- May oversee the setting up of trays or clearing of dining room
- Maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers, members of the public and others contacted through the course of work; respond in a positive manner to supervision and direction; and attend and perform duties on a regular, reliable and consistent basis.
- Learn large-scale kitchen procedures.
Examples of Experience/Education/Training
Thorough Knowledge of:
- The methods of preparing food in large quantities.
- Kitchen sanitation and safety measure used in the operation, cleaning and care of utensils, equipment and work areas.
Skill and Ability to:
- Read, understand and follow recipes and to prepare food in a tasty and attractive manner.
- Judge the quantities of food required to serve a given number and to prepare food with a minimum of waste.
- Organize and oversee the work of others.
- Comprehend, read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to follow oral and written instructions to complete time and other administrative forms or records.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers, members of the public and others contacted through the course of work; respond in a positive manner to supervision and direction; and attend and perform duties on a regular, reliable and consistent basis.
- Learn large-scale kitchen procedures.
An example of a way these requirements listed above may typically be acquired is:
- One (1) year of full-time experience as a Food Service Worker I
- Relevant work experience in a hospital setting is highly desirable
Additional Information
- Natividad requires that all incumbents pass a pre-employment physical/medical assessment.
- Natividad will conduct a thorough background and reference check process which includes a Department of Justice fingerprint check.
- Employees who drive on County business to carry out job related duties must possess a valid CA Driver License for the class vehicle driven.
- Employees must have and show their original Social Security Card and a valid CA Driver License or CA State ID prior to the first day of work.
- Incumbents may be required to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays
