What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse position at Natrona County Sheriff's Office?
DUTIES: Under direction, provide professional nursing care in the Natrona County Detention Center. Candidates must be able to work 12 hour shift schedules involving nights, weekends, and holidays.
REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying unless otherwise specified. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: 1. RN – Licensed in Wyoming and in good standing 2. LPN- Licensed in Wyoming and in good standing
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: License/Certification/Registration: Possession of a current CPR certificate; Possess and maintain a Wyoming Driver’s License from the start of employment and maintain a valid nurse license issued by state of Wyoming. All candidates will have to go through the background investigation and pass the polygraph examination before hiring. Must be in good physical and mental condition and must be capable of performing the classification’s essential functions as summarized in the typical tasks section of this job specification. If not already certified, an IVC certification is required within 6 months of hire.
Civilian employee’s minimum requirements for employment:
1. Be a United States Citizen.
2. Be at least 21 years of age.
3. Must submit to a records check, which cannot indicate any prior felony convictions.
4. Hold a high school diploma or evidence of an equivalent achievement.
5. Have good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
6. Pass an oral interview by designated persons of this Office.
7. Pass a polygraph examination.
8. Possess a valid Wyoming Driver’s License within 1 year of hire.
9. Pass a drug screen test.
Applications will not be considered if the applicant has used marijuana in the last year, and any other illegal drug in the last five years prior to the application date. Applicants will also not be considered if they have used a controlled substance through injection into the body at any time.
KNOWLEDGE: Through knowledge of professional nursing techniques, practices, procedures and regulation; routine medical/psychological assessment techniques; administering medications and treatment; the uses, effects, and adverse reactions to medications and controlled substances; Universal precautions consistent with infectious disease control; control; medical terminology, instruments and equipment’s; emergency response practice and procedures; accurate charting and medical record keeping practices; interviewing techniques and laws governing nursing practices.
