NAT-SU Healthcare is looking for a Full-Time Emergency Management and Safety Coordinator. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing emergency preparedness plans as well as overseeing and maintaining a safe environment, ensuring the safety of both clients and staff. Primary responsibilities of this position are to plan, organize, and administer emergency preparedness activities including pre-emergency planning, emergency response activities, post emergency functions along with conducting risk assessments, responding to crisis situations, and educating staff on appropriate safety procedures and helping to improve the overall safety within our facilities. This individual will be coordinating responses to incidents, including managing staff, coordinating communication, and facilitating clients and staff safety during emergencies, all while adhering to relevant regulations and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, safety policies and procedures to align with industry standards and legal requirements (OSHA, state regulations).
- Create comprehensive emergency response plans for various scenarios like active shooter situations, casualty incidents, etc.
- Ensure the organization complies with all current regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures.
- Conduct regular staff training on emergency procedures, including evacuation plans, first aid, and organizing drills and exercises to test preparedness.
- Respond to crisis situations promptly and effectively, and coordinate emergency responses when necessary.
- Take lead during an incident coordinating communication between staff, external agencies (fire department, EMS), and leadership.
- Provide ongoing safety training to all staff members on proper techniques for managing and reporting incidents.
- Manage emergency supplies, equipment, and inventory to ensure adequate availability during a crisis.
- Thoroughly investigate safety incidents, review emergency response actions, document details, identify root causes, and take corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Monitor the physical environment of the facility to ensure safety standards are met, including proper maintenance of equipment, lighting, and security systems.
- Act as liaison between different departments within the facilities, external agencies, and community partners during an emergency.
- Work with staff, management, and other departments to identify and address potential safety concerns, coordinating efforts to provide a safe and supportive environment.
- Identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities within the facilities and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, including state and federal mandates, and stay updated on relevant regulations and standards related to emergency preparedness and ensure the facilities adhere to them.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned as needed.
