Description:

Natural Gas Services Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Technician with experience in natural gas services. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems related to natural gas operations, including low, medium, and high voltage panels. You will ensure the safe and reliable operation of electrical systems, collaborate with other technicians, and adhere to industry standards and safety regulations.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems related to natural gas compressor installations and operations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications for wiring layouts and installation procedures.
  • Test electrical systems for functionality, safety, and compliance with regulations.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical problems, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Replace or repair faulty electrical components such as switches, outlets, and circuit breakers.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards in all work activities.
  • Collaborate with other trades and contractors to ensure proper coordination of electrical work.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical work performed, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and service records.
  • Stay updated on electrical technology, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Follow strict safety protocols to avoid accidents and hazards.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and service requests.
  • Estimate material and labor costs for electrical projects and repairs.
  • Provide clear communication with customers, supervisors, and team members.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education; completion of an apprenticeship or technical training in electrical work.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial electrical experience (low, medium, and high voltage).
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, including variable frequency drives, starter panels, and PLC systems (PLC experience preferred).
  • Journeyman electrician license or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic test instruments and electrical tools (multimeters, wire strippers, conduit benders).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Experience working with natural gas systems, compressors, pumps, and turbines is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safe handling practices for flammable gases, liquids, and high-pressure systems.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, climbing, and manual dexterity.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • 2-6 years of experience operating and maintaining gas engines and compressors.
  • Familiarity with equipment manufactured by Caterpillar, Ariel, and similar brands.
  • Experience in performing thermography on electrical distribution panels and motor control systems.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, control centers, and automated systems.
  • Experience with electrical, automation, and instrumentation equipment applied to industrial motor controls, chemical feed systems, and pump drives.
