Senior Technical Writer
Houston, TX, US (Hybrid-Full Time)
Role Summary / Purpose
The Senior Technical Writer collaborates with the marketing, technical services, engineering, and other teams to gather complex technical information and create clear, concise, and accurate user-focused product documentation.
Essential Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and publish technical documentation for internal and external audiences.
- Gather technical information by interviewing subject matter experts (SMEs), reviewing existing documents, specifications, and drawings, and performing hands-on operation of the equipment and / or software to develop a comprehensive understanding of the products
- Evaluate available information and users’ needs to create the content outline and determine effective visual aids.
- Create and maintain product documents such as Installation, Operations, and Maintenance (IOM) manuals; User Guides; Getting Started Guides; and other supporting documents for hardware and software products.
- Use tables, charts, photographs, and graphics to provide visual aids as needed to demonstrate concepts and clearly convey information.
- Use Word templates, styles, and standards for usability, consistency, and readability across documents.
- Collaborate in a cross-functional team environment to conduct document review sessions and make revisions as needed.
- Provide feedback to the team to suggest improvements for the product or software, as needed.
- Review documents for order, clarity, conciseness, style, terminology, and accuracy.
- Create PDF files for final document release.
- Manage multiple documents and projects simultaneously.
