Financial Controller

Position Summary: The Financial Controller is responsible for managing the accounting and finance operations of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining internal control systems, and supporting strategic financial planning. This position plays a critical leadership role in supporting the company’s financial health and growth.

Accounting Operations:

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
• Manage all general ledger functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.
• Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Prepare internal financial statements, management reports, and board reporting packages.
• Lead monthly variance analysis and provide financial insights to support decision-making.
• Support preparation of annual audited financial statements and coordinate with external auditor.

Planning & Forecasting:

• Lead the company’s annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Develop and maintain financial models to support long-term planning and scenario analysis.

Internal Controls & Compliance:

• Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with external advisors on tax planning, compliance, and filings.

ERP & Systems:

• Manage accounting systems and lead continuous improvement of financial processes and system capabilities.
• Utilize SAP Business One (SAP B1) to maintain financial data integrity and reporting accuracy.
• Serve as subject matter expert in Excel, developing advanced reports and tools as needed.

Team Leadership:

• Direct, mentor, and develop direct reports.
• Set clear performance goals and foster a collaborative, high-performance finance team environment.
• Performs other job related tasks as assigned- duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or similar leadership role.
• Experience in a manufacturing and/or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing accounting teams and implementing financial controls.

Competencies/Skills:

• Financial Management.
• Proficient in SAP Business One or similar ERP systems; SAP B1 experience preferred.
• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, modeling, macros preferred).
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Ethical Conduct.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be a self-starter, able to independently manage projects and willing to work in a fast paced, ever-changing and dynamic regulatory environment.
