What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Operator, Plumsted Fixed Facility position at Natural Systems Utilities?
SUMMARY:
This position is based at the Plumsted Wastewater Treatment Facility in the New Egypt, NJ area and supports NSU NJ Operations. The operator is an independent well-organized initiative-taker able to manage his/her own time to complete assigned tasks in their given allotted time.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as pH, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, alkalinity, etc., to monitor process conditions
- Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc.
- Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations
- Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance
- Assist to prepare monthly written operating report based on facility’s operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required
- Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
- Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of safety hazards
- Participate in 24 hour on call rotation
- Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors, or regulatory personnel
- Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance
- Operate the plant to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities
- Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal
- Maintain accurate records for equipment run times, chemical inventory, timesheets, expenses, etc.
- Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for plant coverage
- Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
- Confined Space Entry – this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- 1 year of wastewater experience, preferred
- Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as requested
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as required

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
- Valid Driver’s License required
- NJ Wastewater license required (S1 OR S2)
*Compensation for this position will be based on the candidate's experience and relevant licensing.*
The pay range for this position is $25.77 to $34.73.
